The moon knife is used by different tradesmen including window fitters and carpet fitters. The moon knife gets it name because of the crescent shaped blade.
Moon knife components
The moon knife only has to main components the blade and the handle. The moon knife blade is curved and is made from steel carbon and the moon knife handle which is made out of wood and painted red.
Moon Knife uses
The moon knife is a good general multi purpose knife for any tradesmen. A carpet fitter would use this moon knife for cutting vinyl leather flooring. A window fitter would use the moon knife for removing excess sprue on uPVC window frames.
Sprue is excess plastic that is injected into the mould. However the moon knife is NOT recommended for removal of glazing beads. The Glazing bead is a strip on a window panel inside the window frame which supports and holds the pane of glass we would recommend our glaziers chisel knife.
