Window Gasket Replacement Quick Guide

Is your window seal not working as it should and letting in drafts?

Over time window seals can start to become brittle and deteriorate causing them to let in the cold. Luckily, replacing them is simple, with this quick guide you could soon improve your home's weather resistance.

The first step to replacing the window gasket will be to remove the old one. Using a set of needle nose pliers, pull out the old seal starting in one corner. Once you have access to the edge simply just pull along the gasket until removed.

Using something such as a razor blade remove any glue and dirt from the gap before starting to work on adding the new gasket.

Starting back in the corner press the new gasket into the gap and press in the seal moving along the edge of the window. For the seal in the corners of the window cut out a wedge piece and press it into the space.
